There were also reports last year indicating Iran also seeks the advanced Russian S-400 air defense missile system.

Michele Spatari | Afp | Getty ImagesSINGAPORE — Sanctions imposed by the West on Russia are pushing the BRICS nations closer, said oil executives at the recent APPEC conference in Singapore. "Looking at the oil markets today ... the Western sanctions on Russia are working. The BRICS alliance includes Russia, as well as Brazil, India, China and South Africa. The BRICS nations have had different brushes in their relationships with the West. A fleet of aging oil tankers that do not turn on their tracking signals is suspected of secretly transporting sanctioned Russian oil globally. Russia has also put together a "shadow fleet" of more than 100 oil tankers to skirt the sanctions, the FT reported in December. By August, such gray market sales reached nearly $6.5 billion, said Denis Manturov, the Russian trade and industry minister, according to an Interfax report. Russian oil is still getting into Western countries, thanks to intermediaries. Western nations that banned Russian oil have collectively imported nearly $46 billion worth of Russian oil products, according to a study by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air, or CREA, published in April.
The logo of the OPEC is pictured at the OPEC headquarters on October 4, 2022. In October last year, the oil cartel announced its decision to cut output by two million barrels per day. U.S. President Joe Biden's administration has repeatedly lambasted the OPEC+ group for its production cuts, citing the inflationary toll on households and flinging accusations of camaraderie with sanctions-struck Russia. One such technical council, the OPEC+ Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee concluded on Monday with a statement that acknowledged the voluntary cuts, making no mention of a broader change in formal production policy. Referring to the voluntary cuts, the OPEC Secretariat said they represent "a precautionary measure aimed at supporting the stability of the oil market."

Dubai has been working on its image for many years, and now it's up there with London or Monaco, in my opinion. Russian clients usually speak English, but they'll prefer to deal with Russian speakers. There's a feeling about Dubai that shady people can come here, set up, and get away with itIt's a real process here. In general, Russians prefer villas to apartmentsSince COVID-19, there's been a boom in villas — everyone wants them.
